Wallace Bruce Society
The Wallace Bruce Society is a group of Chautauquans
dedicated to preserving the Honorable Wallace Bruce's contribution
to Chautauqua history in DeFuniak Springs. He served many times as
president of the Florida Chautauqua. His vision shaped DeFuniak
Springs and the Chautauqua from its very inception. His unique
spirit and outlook is clearly mirrored in the Scottish
heritage of our community.
The Society honors Mr. Bruce with gatherings to
host Lyceums and celebrations. These first
meeting was held at Dream Cottage, Mr. & Mrs. Bruce's home on Lake DeFuniak, one of the first homes built on the lake.
